THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL MARKETS AT SICAM

29th January 2018

With its 583 exhibitors, of which 28% from 35 foreign countries and 7,765 visiting companies, 31% from abroad, the ninth edition of SICAM was a moment of great promotion of the international business for components and accessories: that of 2017 was the record edition, with more than 15.000 square meters of exhibition space, which has been growing steadily for five years.

The exhibitions' indicators reflect the current trend of the international markets in the furniture sector, with Italy (first country at SICAM) confirming its position as European leader as an exporter of furniture in the non-EU area with more than 4,2 billion turnover and a 28% share of the total market in this area, ahead of Germany (second largest country exhibiting at SICAM), amounting to approximately 3 billion euros of exports to the non-EU area. The largest import market in the world from European countries is still China, with a market share of 57%: China was the leading Asian country (an area that represented 25% of foreign visitors) for the number of companies and operators visiting SICAM 2017.

The analysis of the data on visitors recorded in Pordenone last October shows the high level of professional qualification that characterizes the presence at the fair, with 37% of operators belonging to the top management (owners and general managers) and 9% to the specific area of design and conception of the finished product.
