SICAM once more in Pordenone, showcasing designs, materials and new ideas for the international furniture industry

17th October 2023

From Tuesday 17th to Friday 20th October 2023, the Pordenone Exhibition Centre will host the 14th edition of SICAM, the International Exhibition of Components, Accessories and Semi-finished Products for the Furniture Industry, with 653 companies from Italy and 34 foreign countries exhibiting their innovative designs, technologies, materials and solutions.

Who will be there?

  • 69% of exhibiting companies will be Italian and 31% foreign.
  • 70 companies from Germany, increasing in respect to recent years, historically the country with the greatest exhibiting presence at SICAM, will be exhibiting, more than in recent years, while 33 will be from Turkey and 16 from Spain, followed in terms of number of exhibitors by Austria, France, Greece and Switzerland.
  • Over 60% of the 443 Italian exhibitors will be from the regions with the greatest density of furniture companies: Lombardy and the Triveneto (Veneto, Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Trentino-Alto Adige).
  • Professionals and buyers from over 8,500 companies from around the world are expected. Last year’s show attracted visitors from as many as 115 countries of five continents.

How big is SICAM 2023?
  • The 2023 exhibition covers a net stand area of 18,420 sqm and a gross exhibition area of 40,000 sqm, across ten halls, in growth compared to the previous years.
  • The new hall 5 is being used for the first time this year, extending its space availability to the two sections 5 BIS and 5 TER: a new 3,000 sq. m space has been added, which has offered the opportunity to rethink the exhibition layout for this Show and to create further routes for visitors, with new connections between the halls.

October in Pordenone: a strategic date and location particularly valued by the international furniture industry

“One of the keys to the success of our event,” says Carlo Giobbi, founder and historic organiser of SICAM, “lies precisely in its constant drive to provide solutions for furniture production companies by offering them, every year, at the most suitable time for the production season, an increasingly complete range of accessories and components that is full of innovations in all product sectors. This objective determines the organisational choices and management strategy of the Show as a whole. In a dynamic market that produces design and innovation in a continuous cycle, SICAM is the event that every year allows, in particular, the sector’s small and medium-sized companies to continue forging new high-profile relationships and achieve international visibility for the positive development of their business.”

In 2023, SICAM is once more the key event of the year for identifying and understanding new trends, and coming into direct contact with the most current innovations in terms of components and accessories for the furniture industry. October is the ideal time to make the most appropriate choices for the next market season, which is why SICAM always showcases the latest innovations in terms of materials, design and technologies, the ones that will be most valued across the world at international furniture trade shows the following spring.

“It is no coincidence then,” Carlo Giobbi continues, “that SICAM is held in Pordenone, in the heart of Livenza, one of the biggest European production districts, where many of Italy’s most important industrial clusters in the field of wooden furniture are located. In this area of Italy, an integrated system of companies has developed, almost all small and medium-sized, which generate a total turnover of two billion euros, a quarter of the national total. It is the ideal venue for professionals from across the supply chain to meet once a year!”

A fundamental meeting point for the furniture industry, where high-profile business relationships can be established The format of the Show, the worth of which has been thoroughly tested over the years, remains the same and is unchanged in its guidelines: in the polished and refined atmosphere for which SICAM is now widely recognised and appreciated, visiting professionals find increasingly efficient services intended to foster new meeting opportunities, even when relaxing at the bar or restaurant. The high quality of the participants generates high-profile contacts every year and great interest in the business development prospects that open up, which is one of the reasons for the very high rate of repeat bookings (over 90% this year too) by companies exhibiting at SICAM, a clear sign that the effectiveness of the Show formula is recognised by the market. SICAM attracts high-quality visitors: last year, the top registered visitors were once again company owners and their general managers (overall 40% of registrations), sales and purchasing managers and technicians (19% together for these roles), along with many technical and sales people, with the number of designers and interior architects growing further compared to the past (at 6%).

An unmistakable format and style

The simple and elegant atmosphere of the halls is part of SICAM’s DNA. It is not mere aesthetics but a distinctive feature of the Show, an effective element that makes for a pleasant time among the stands and facilitates meetings between professionals. In hospitality as well, great attention is paid to detail: from the layout and efficiency of the cafés and bistros in the exhibition halls to the choice of menus in the restaurants and buffets, nothing is left to chance. This year the layouts of these services have also been revised to create easier and more streamlined access points, and reduce waiting at peak times. The constant improvement of services is one of the keys to the success of the SICAM exhibition formula and format, which aim for effectiveness while ensuring an ever-evolving style always focused on high quality.

A complete and integrated system of services to facilitate attendance at SICAM

People visiting the show in Pordenone must be able to focus solely on their business: developing meetings and relationships at the highest international level. “It is one of the key principles that guide our organisational choices every year,” says Michele Giobbi, in charge of SICAM's technical services and logistics. “We pay particular attention to the principle that those who come to the show are only here to work. All the services we provide are therefore designed for and aimed at achieving this objective: from online registration to the welcome we provide at the airport, both in Venice and Treviso, with our dedicated, high-frequency shuttle service, which is once again free this year. ”This year, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pordenone, a new car park has also been made available in the Commercial Interport, where a further 500 parking spaces are available and for which a free shuttle bus service will be operating solely for SICAM visitors, to ensure a constant link with the central entrance of the show. “The hospitality services we offer for SICAM guests in Pordenone,” continues Michele Giobbi, “also extend to public urban transport services which, according to the agreement we have signed with TPL-ATAP, will be free throughout the exhibition period.”

Pordenone and its Fuori Salone welcome guests visiting SICAM 2023

Pordenone is a small but lively and exciting city. It welcomes SICAM guests with its Fuori Salone: a dedicated programme of fringe events and initiatives taking place during the days of the show, made possible by the collaboration between the SICAM team and the Municipality of Pordenone.

“This year, in collaboration with the municipal authorities, we have developed a new programme for our guests,” says Carolina Giobbi, SICAM’s marketing and communication manager. “Pordenone is ready to introduce guests to the beauty of its old town and culinary delights, providing a few hours of pleasant relaxation for everyone after a busy day of work at the show.”

With its typically Venetian-style buildings and the evocative atmosphere of its alleys, the Contrada Maggiore, the pedestrian street that runs through the city centre, teems with bars and restaurants where you can enjoy an aperitif and dinner together at the end of a day at the show, in refined and relaxed environments, in uniquely charming and stylish surroundings. “For the SICAM team,” underlines Carolina Giobbi, “it is essential to take all-round care of our guests: it’s nice for people coming to Pordenone for the show to feel welcome at all times of the day. And we consider this to be an integral part of the very format of our event.”
