With the furniture market on the upturn Growing expectations for SICAM at Pordenone next October

29th March 2016

Scheduled for 18th to 21st October, the eighth edition of SICAM promises to be one of the best ever. The general context of the furniture industry has been showing glimpses of interesting prospects for some time now. In addition, the fact that the Pordenone-based International Exhibition of Components, Accessories, and Semi-Finished Products for the Furniture Industry already has the same amount of exhibition spaces booked as in the 2015 edition suggests that the companies of the sector have more than valid reasons to look to the upcoming months with optimism. Furthermore, according to the recent “Gauge of companies” by Federlegno Arredo, as many as 48% of the companies interviewed forecast a further increase in sales in 2016, even higher than last year.
Above all driven by exports, the recovery of the Italian wood and furniture sector (which is currently worth almost Euro 27 billion, employing more than 360 thousand workers) can therefore be considered reality. This can also be seen in the most recent data produced by Federlegno Arredo, according to which even the domestic market should show positive results. In addition, in a recent Forecast report, CSIL predicted a +1.2% for the domestic market at year end. The numbers were already clear for the foreign markets in 2015: between January and September there was a 6% rise for the entire wood and furniture sector and 6.3% for furniture alone, with the best performances recorded in the United States (+23.5% for the sector as a whole), the United Kingdom (+17.8%), and in China (+9%, but +19% for furniture enterprises), compared to a plunge in the Russian market (-25.8%).
The upcoming edition of Sicam will present new important foreign companies and various small to medium-sized Italian enterprises which will further enrichen the trade fair’s exhibition panel, increasingly more complete and representative of the best that the international component and accessories sector had to offer to the market again every year. All of the pavilions of the Pordenone trade fair area will be used for Sicam 2016, which already promises to strengthen and surpass the figures of 2015, when five hundred exhibiting companies represented 33 countries and seventeen thousand individual operators over 6,700 entities, with 29% foreign companies from 96 different countries.
So now we have explained the reason why Exposicam is optimistic about the edition to be held in October. A unique event of global calibre in 2016, the Pordenone trade fair constantly strengthens its validity in developing international business networking and, at the same time, it also maintains an undisputed appeal for the Italian furniture industry, which finds the best development opportunities of the entire sector increasingly more each year.

Over the coming months the event will also be present at the world’s most important events in the sector: over thirty appointments in five continents, destined to bring the most qualified furniture manufacturers from all over the world flocking to the trade fair in Pordenone. Promotion in consolidated markets and development in emerging nations are the foundations of the communication strategy that the Exposicam organisational team has been implementing methodically for years. This then finds validation in the new business relations which are created every year at Pordenone. The most recent editions saw visits from new entrepreneurs from North African countries and republics from the former Soviet Union, the ASEAN area and Central America, as well as all of the countries which historically comprise the pillar of the event, including Germany, Northern European countries, Russia, and so on.
So the date is set for SICAM 2016 at Pordenone, from Tuesday 18th to Friday 21st October: four days of intense work and developing relations and new business, for a public that is always highly qualified, including buyers, designers, and furniture technicians from all over the world.
